I went to Barnes and Noble today and bought 3 cookbooks. I am determined to learn to cook! I tried something very simple to begin. It's pan-fried potatoes with beef. At the bottom of the recipe it says the beef can be switched out with chicken which I did. I added peas into the recipe too. I wish it had some type of sauce, but it's still pretty tasty.

It's was quick and delicious. I had most of the things in my fridge/freezer already.
Sofas are here! We got the Stella sofa (I think that's what it's called) and the matching chair and ottoman from Z Gallerie. And yes, they're white. Crazy? Why yes, I think we are. Crazier because we have a black dog? *sigh* Yes once again. BUT...I love it! A tad too many pillows, but oh so comfy! My living room looks teeny tiny now, but no one can deny the 43" depth of this sofa. Soooooo comfy! As you can see, Lexi found her blankie and is now fast asleep.
Okay, I don't do much actual *cooking*, but I do a lot of preparing. For instance, I can prepare salad with all the fixings - celery, grated carrots (hand grated mind you!), cucumbers, mushrooms, and cilantro. I left the avacado, sugar snap peas and croutons out of the picture.
I've been making my Aunt Phyllis' dip like a mad woman recently. There's white and yellow corn, a green bell pepper, kidney beans, tomatos, avacado, red onion, cilantro, EVOO, white wine vinegar, cumin, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Country potatoes anyone?
How about cheese tortellini and broccoli covered in cheeeese?!
While moving I found my 7th grade cookbook from foods class. The first recipe in the book is for Dutch Babies. I have fallen in love with them all over again. It's usually a breakfast item, but who says you can't have breakfast at 4:30 in the afternoon? First I melted 1/4 cup butter in a 425 degree oven in a 13x9 pan. Then I mixed up 4 eggs and alternately added a total of 1 cup of flour and 1 cup of milk until it's well incorporated. Then, pour it into the melted butter in the pan and wait 13-15 minutes. As it cooks, it grooooows. It's really fun to watch. Here it is, fresh out of the oven. I put powdered sugar and lemon juice on it and it's DELICIOUS!
I love my new kitchen and really love cooking in it! Have any great recipes? Please pass them my way!
Sorry for the lack of updates. Just wanted to post that we moved safely and it's all coming together. We moved on the 17th, got all our furniture except the sofa on the 19th and have started filling in all the nooks and crannies already. I will post pictures once it's all put together =)
